Sometimes things that you see are just too lovely for everyday words, not often, just once in a while. Not the important life stuff like looking in total wonderment at how tiny your babys fingernails are, or the person you love with holiday hair, brown hands and feet, that’s different.

I mean head filling overwhelming disbelief that something could be so awesomely great and cool and memorable and just right up your street in every single little and big way.

It happening when I visited the most beautiful  ‘Anthropology’ store on West Broadway in New York about ten years ago. Every single part of the shop from the front steps onwards made me giddy with excitement and a little bit crazy with desire.

Well, its happened again with our completely amazing new kitchen. This Sebastian Cox and deVOL collaboration has not only got me a little bit over excited but everyone is talking about it in a swoony kind of way.

We have finished the display little by little over the weeks since Clerkenwell Design Week, adding a fridge one day, then a vintage table the next and gradually it found its style and its home. An atmospheric and shady spot in the Mill where it just seems so right. I can’t help looking at it in a slightly wistfully excited way.

We are so lucky here at deVOL to be able to be involved in the ideas, the design, the making and the finished article all under one roof. To finally be able to style and shoot the kitchen was a real treat and the look just seemed so easy and right.

I got excited when I found the tall wooden rack and put it next to the pantry cupboard. The mix of contemporary, lofty warehouse and old traditional Mediterranean family kitchen was a perfect look, not contrived just original and a little bit familiar.
