deVOL’s LA Showroom – A Private Bar

Moody, atmospheric, glamorous, welcome to deVOL’s LA bar. Join me for part two of my tour of our fabulous new showroom in West Hollywood, this might just be my favourite display of them all… and if you haven’t read about the first space yet, you can do so here!
We have never designed a bar for one of our showrooms before but our Haberdasher’s range is a perfect choice for a space like this so we were really excited to give it a whirl. We say these cupboards are the most ‘un-kitcheny’ of all our offerings, the collection was inspired by old gentlemen’s haberdashery shops and mid-century interiors and has a real furniture feel. This display was actually inspired by the legendary bar in New York City’s Le Coucou and I can confirm it has a similar vibe, you step inside and instantly want to sit down with a delicious drink and just enjoy.
As well as being our first bar, it is also the first time we have showcased our ‘Bobbin Black’ shade in a showroom. How great does it look? A really wonderful option for anybody wanting to make a bit of a statement and especially perfect for creating an opulent bar with oodles of atmosphere.
Our Haberdasher’s kitchens always feature a lot of glass, it’s a key component to the look, but we understand not everything should be on show!! And so we also offer beautiful tambour-style fronted or flat panel doors for these cupboards too. The back run has a mix of both, we have a set of tambour-fronted drawers and a tambour-fronted double bin cupboard with two integrated undercounter glass-fronted drinks fridges nestled between. On top, a run of tall glazed countertop cupboards have been fitted. The ideal spot for wine glasses, bottles of liqueur and cocktail-making accoutrement.
In front, a big Haberdasher’s Counter takes centre stage with a chunky foot rail. An important detail of this piece of furniture and absolutely crucial for a bar!! And how about the glimmering brass worktop – another first for us! With an integrated welded brass sink and our brass Mayan taps behind, this set-up is alluring and quite glamorous. Our brass is always unlacquered so will age and gain a patina over time. We had our opening party back in October and the bar was an extremely busy spot, so the worktop is already looking well-used and well-loved. We adore materials that tell a story over time and we promise after the first mark, they all get a lot easier to embrace.
Pulled up to the island you’ll find a row of our Woven Top Bentwood Café Stools. Behind is a comfy set-up with our Bentwood Café Chairs, three Petite Vineyard Tables and a vintage bench, you can choose the perfect spot to sit.
The walls in our LA bar are extra special. Surrounding the seating is a selection of our Emerald Green London Tiles, varying in green tones and shining like little jewels in this cosy spot. The most amazing wallpaper has been hung on the other side of the room, it’s designed by Watts 1874 and is their grasscloth ‘Wolterton Verdure’ design. It’s reminiscent of 17th and 18th century tapestries and adds so much character, depth and texture to the room.
Frilly Amber Lights (always turned down low), candles, vintage wall decorations and plants add the final touches to this special space. I can’t think of a better place to mix up a drink, settle down in one of the comfy seats and soak up the loveliness.
