deVOL's LA Showroom - The Powder Room

By Holly Bishop

Part three of my LA showroom tour - it’s time for a look around the Powder Room! There are so many details to fall in love with here and, similarly to my last blog about the bar (which you can read here), this display is a first for us. We have one of our Victorian Washstands at Cotes Mill but a whole dedicated room to this beautiful piece? Very exciting.

An angled photo taken looking through a large wooden door into an elegant powder room with twin printer's black wash stand, two vintage mirrors, two beautiful vintage pendant lights with scalloped fringes, and the sepia lace market tiles as the splash back.Through the huge antique doors and into our very pretty powder room... and did you notice the Weaver's Hand!?

A Twin Victorian Washstand takes centre stage, painted in our 'Printer’s Black' shade and topped with Carrara marble. Little oval sinks and brass pillar basin taps finish the look. And how about the splashback? Also from our own collection, these are our 'Sepia' Lace Market Tiles in a variety of styles and shapes. We feel this is the best way to use these tiles, there is a clear pattern but it feels organic and not overthought.

Vintage mirrors were installed and two textural pendants hung above. The light frames were an antique find and the shades were actually made by deVOL’s Creative Director Helen and Founder Paul in the last few weeks leading up to opening day of the showroom! They popped into a local fabric shop in West Hollywood and set to work creating these pretty lights - what a perfect addition to this opulent space.

Two images side by side. The left shows a photo taken inside a fabric shop with many rolls of different fabrics piled up. The image on the right shows deVOL's Founder, Paul O'Leary, making a frilly fabric light shade for a vintage pendant.A quick trip to a fabric shop for Helen and Paul so they could make the pendant shades!

The other side of this powder room has a short run of 'Bobbin Black' cabinetry from our Haberdasher’s collection. The cupboards are glazed but have been fitted with ruched curtains (such a pretty look) and topped with marble.

A beautiful butter-yellow powder room, you’ll find a pair of Habedasher’s glazed base cabinets with ruched curtains, a collection of antique furniture, vintage paintings, and a Parisian chequered marble floor. Paired with floral wall candle holders and an old dress form, the room exudes a glamorous, vintage charm. You can't go wrong with a run of Haberdasher's cupboards, they look so elegant wherever they're placed.

As is the case with all our showrooms, this room was designed and styled by Helen and it’s always very cool to watch a space turn from a simple showroom display with beautiful cupboards into something so real and so inspiring. Here Helen has decorated with antique portraits, old little perfume bottles and animal figurines, pretty little bags and an upholstered bench for a bit of comfy seating.

An oblique view of a beautiful butter-yellow powder room, you’ll find a pair of Habedasher’s glazed base cabinets with ruched curtains, a collection of antique furniture, vintage paintings, and a Parisian chequered marble floor. Paired with floral wall candle holders and an old dress form, the room exudes a glamorous, vintage charm.A beautiful room made even more special with all the vintage additions.

The final details are the warm buttery yellow walls, the Café Curtain Rail over the window complete with a wispy piece of linen and the black and white chequerboard floor. These marble tiles are actually another of our own designs, a new addition to the deVOL repertoire, and the cherry on top of this luxurious room.

Looking past the antique Parisian doors into a beautiful butter-yellow powder room, you’ll find a black twin Victorian washstand, tall sepia lace market tiles, and a Parisian chequered marble floor. Paired with antique mirrors, pendant lights, and framed pressed botanical artworks, the room exudes a glamorous, vintage charm.A really inspiring space and one I'd never want to leave if it was mine.

Next up on the tour is our Shaker display, you’re in for a treat. It’s a huge open-plan space with not only a kitchen but also a dining area, a place to settle down and relax and a small but perfectly practical scullery.
