Care & Maintenance

Carrara Marble

Never clean with bleach or harsh chemical cleaners; use mild soapy water or a cleaner specifically intended for stone surfaces. Do not use abrasive pads or scourers, use a soft colourfast cloth to avoid scratching the stone.

 

Brass Taps & Rails

Dry with a soft cloth after each use. Clean regularly with warm water or warm water combined with a mild pH-neutral liquid soap and then polish with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth. A microfibre cloth is ideal as it is gentle but effective for cleaning without scratching and needs only to be dampened with water to clean the product. 

Do not use abrasive cloths, scouring pads, scrub sponges, steel wool etc. as they may damage the surface.

Under no circumstances should harsh cleaning agents containing acidic, caustic or abrasive components such as bleach, alcohol or vinegar based substances be used.

To remove limescale we advise a 50/50 solution of lemon juice and water. To avoid it running away, apply to some cotton wool and wrap around the area. Leave on for no more than an hour then remove the cotton wool and rinse with clean water and dry fully with a lint-free cloth. For heavy scaling, the process can be repeated as long as the area is rinsed off with clean water in-between treatments to avoid a build-up of the citric acid.

Returns

This item is eligible for return within 28 days of delivery.

Any items returned to us in the condition in which they were sent will be refunded in full, excluding any delivery fees (and a 10% restocking fee if you are ordering from outside of the UK).

We are unable to cover any return postage costs, or any loss or breakages that occur during the return process. We therefore recommend that returns are made using the original packaging with a tracked, insured and signed for service.

The Victorian Washstand, by deVOL

We have taken our time to design and make our first washstand here at deVOL, it’s something we have been keen to do for such a long time, but we had to get the proportions just right.

Tall slender legs and a useful low shelf, this piece is much more elegant than a closed vanity unit, it has a lightness and softness that you don’t often find in bathroom furniture. As we move towards a more comfortable way of designing our kitchens and bathrooms, we want beautiful as well as functional. Bathrooms are a very special part of our everyday lives, for some they are a complete sanctuary and an escape, so settling on a classic and beautifully made piece of furniture seems to us like a very sensible choice.
Carrara marble is a really traditional washstand material and feels just right alongside our new Perrin and Rowe bathroom taps, in deVOL's exclusive aged brass finish.

This washstand would look perfect in a powder room, especially in our beautiful ‘Princelet Pink’ paint colour, but it would equally be wonderful in ‘Printer's Black’ in a downstairs cloakroom with heavily decorated floral wallpaper and low lighting. As you can see, we are getting quite excited by the possibilities of this delightful new piece of furniture and our first foray into bathrooms!!
