Description

We first came across these hand-shaped door knockers in Spitalfields, East London. The beautifully grand terraces of Princelet Street, Wilkes Street and Fournier Street were built by and became home to French Huguenots in the late 17th and 18th Centuries.

The Huguenots had an exceptional eye for detail, many were silk weavers, who made exquisite ball gowns and intricate fabrics in the attic rooms of these houses.

Our ‘Weaver's Hand’ door knocker, encapsulates the style and attention to detail these people brought with them from France and what a huge influence they were, changing the way people ate, lived and worked in London. If you walk down these perfectly preserved streets now, you will marvel at each and every front door, no one is the same, they are a never-ending source of joy and inspiration.

Our immaculately cast door knocker is made of solid brass with a wonderfully weighty feel and a deeply satisfying knock.
