Our first interior doorknob is the beautifully designed and crafted ‘Romilly’. An elegant, sophisticated design made of solid brass with a tiny bronze button detail on the top, a subtle contrast of metals just to make it even more special. It has a simple yet classic look and would work well on all interior doors old or new. This doorknob is made in the traditional way; it is solid brass and feels really weighty and substantial, unlike many hollow pressed pieces of door furniture on the market today. It also has custom-designed spindle bar to ensure its longevity and exacting fit.

Doesn’t everyone love an old door? There is an endless fascination with their size, colour and age. Wherever you go in the world, there are huge, closed doors and tiny doors to peep through, any which way they offer intrigue, insight and a photo opportunity. The door may be laden with layers of paint or chipped lacquer and faded with age, but the star is always the expertly polished doorknob.

There is something quite delightful about adding a feature like this to a door, it’s the meticulous attention to detail that we love so much. The Victorians were masters at detail, they designed and crafted ornate items for their homes, expressing their excellent taste and status.

When we fitted the Romilly to a door for photographing we fell for its ability to work like an exquisite piece of jewellery, not too big, but bold enough to shine and make an impression.
