Guerilla knitting

The boundaries of graffiti have become blurred further with the small but intense scene of guerilla knitting. AR magazine believes Shepard Fairey and Banksy have gradually become absorbed into the celebrity world with eye watering price tags attached to their work, making their school of thought has lost relevance and credibility from the communities it came from.

These woollen installations have been often used for political stunts. In October 2010 Magda Sayeg wrap the hand gun of a war statue in Bali, a powerful way of undermining it.

The reason why I like this art / vandalism is because people don’t know how to react to it, on the first instant its graffiti, but by being knitted it has a  tactile and friendly appearance and it would be a shame to cut it off.
