Yay spring………………..

I’ve had a lovely day making the entrance to the Mill all bright and colourful and springlike, with lots of lovely new arrivals for sale.

When I woke up it was actually snowy sleet but by the time I arrived at work it was sunny, so I decided today was the day to welcome Spring into our lives and those of our customers.

These pots of ‘paper-white’ Narcissus are actually not real, but they are so realistic a lady was actually smelling them!!! I really love seeing bulbs inside, but they just don’t last long enough. I’m not usually a fan of artificial flowers but some of the ones we have at the Mill are so realistic, they are hard not to like and used sparingly can give you the beauty of indoor flowers all spring, not just a week. I know its not the same as the real thing but somethings are just meant to be enjoyed for longer than their natural life-cycle, so once in a while a little bit of fake is good……………

To prove I do like the real thing too, I have introduced some little cacti into our displays. I keep seeing these spiky little plants in magazines, on pinterest and last time I went to London they were everywhere. House plants have lost favour over the last couple of decades, so its really nice to see them coming back into interiors and looking very trendy………….. Beware though they are painful to pot up, I found that wrapping a piece of card around the plant helps protect your hands.

I also made a little collection of all things pink and green and blue, some really pretty candle votives, more cacti and lots of flowers and interesting pottery and books. Its lovely to see all our new purchases looking so pretty and I hope it encourages people to start thinking of warmer days and getting out into the garden and brightening up there home by introducing a bit of colour. You can never go wrong with a bit of pink in your life.
