A Photoshoot in Kingham for deVOL and Floors of Stone Too!

13th May 2025

By Lydia Winkfield

Did you know that deVOL has a sister company, Floors of Stone? Too often a lovely room is ruined by cheap or garish tiles and planks, so our founder, Paul, decided to start his own business. Floors of Stone now provide our kitchen customers with all sorts of beautiful floors, including wooden parquets, limestone slabs and tumbled marble tiles that perfectly complement their bespoke furniture. Even if you’re not having a deVOL kitchen, Floors of Stone are happy to send their designs and samples all over the world, so once you’ve finished reading this, do take a look through their website.

Whilst many of our deVOL projects now also include Floors of Stone, we’ve actually never done a collaborative photoshoot for both brands before. So when we spotted a pretty Cotswold stone home in Kingham full of deVOL furniture and Floors of Stone designs too, we leaped at the chance to take a few pictures together. Keep reading to take a look at all our favourite images…

A ‘Mushroom’ Shaker kitchen with Chatsworth Oak Parquet from Floors of Stone.

Let’s start in the kitchen. The owners chose the Chatsworth Oak Parquet from Floors of Stone. Each block has been lightly distressed, so the edges are just a little worn and weathered. This gives a really authentic vintage look and pairs perfectly with our ‘Mushroom’ Shaker cupboards and a ‘Bobbin Black’ Haberdasher’s island. The overall look is pure modern country. There’s a nod to traditionalism, but it’s first and foremost a very functional and practical space.

A few deVOL accessories too, can you spot our ‘Frilly Chartreuse Lights‘?

Just along from the kitchen is a moody space, which the owners dubbed the ‘Entertainment Room’! Dark walls painted in ‘Aged Black’ by Atelier Ellis are an unexpected but lovely complement to our ‘Princelet Pink’ Shaker furniture. And do you see the glazed cupboards on the walls? Believe it or not, these aren’t a lucky vintage find, but actually a few of our Haberdasher’s designs.

A mix of Shaker and Haberdasher’s cupboards for the entertainment room.

It’s another oak floor here, but this time long planks rather than parquet. The ‘Burford Oak Planks’ from Floors of Stone are particularly cool because the edges and surfaces are blackened and burned. This process is another really creative way to make a floor feel like it has been sitting there for hundreds of years, and not just recently laid!

Elegant oak planks and a few vintage sofas make the perfect spot to host guests.

The final space with deVOL furniture is a little utility room. It really does make sense for these functional rooms to be as beautiful as possible. Doing the chores is just that little bit easier when you have something pretty to look at! It’s just a small run; a sink cabinet, some pan drawers and a big pantry cupboard for linens, hoovers and mops.

A sweet utility room which makes a statement out of the original Cotswold stone walls.

The flooring here needed to be durable and practical, so ‘Tudor Stone Sandstone’ from Floors of Stone was the perfect choice. Each tile is hand-finished to recreate the look of a traditional York-stone floor, and they’re so strong that they can actually be used outside, ideal for a hardworking room like a utility. With all this in mind, it might seem a little incongruous to include a squishy chaise lounge, but we love the idea of collapsing here after running all our errands.

We love the natural texture of these sandstone tiles, not too pitted and not too smooth.

That’s all the deVOL furniture, but we thought you might like a little nosey in some of the other rooms… The ‘Chatsworth Oak Parquet’ from the kitchen flows through into the sitting room giving a really calm, understated aesthetic.

A moment of serenity in the sitting room.

Upstairs, there’s Floors of Stone in the bathroom too. The design of the ‘Talis Tumbled Marble’ means they feel beautifully lived in but still very grand. It’s a really smart look that avoids the flashiness of shiny, crisp stone.

Gosh, what a lot of rooms! I do hope you enjoyed this house tour. It’s not often we get to take pictures outside of the kitchen, so this was a real treat.
