Less is definitely more, on our latest photo shoot…..

Our latest photo shoot was a lovely one, a Handsome Hall just outside Loughborough with a proper deVOL Classic English Kitchen, just how it should be.

The large family room had only 5 pieces of deVOL furniture making up the kitchen. All beautifully proportioned, substantial cupboards that you know will last a lifetime. No unattractive appliances on show, just simple straightforward cupboards that do what they are supposed to. It’s so refreshing to see that kitchens really do work perfectly without magic corners, integrated appliances, wine racks and sliding pantries. There is nothing to go wrong, nothing to get tired of and nothing to go out of fashion.

This kitchens main feature was a very good looking and very large, White Aga. It sat comfortably between two, traditional blue pot cupboards with matt granite worktops. A focal point most definitely, but not ostentatious, just a substantial cooking area with style.

The pale blue closed larder on the opposite wall was home to a lot of kitchen stuff, pretty much everything you would need from spices to huge le creuset pans. It even housed a small microwave, tucked away out of sight but there for heating up your baked beans or defrosting your peas. This cupboard reminds me of a swan, calm and elegant on the surface, but open the doors and it’s all kicking off.

The kitchen of course wouldn’t be complete without an Island, the place where it all happens including a fabulous view; even the dogs had a bed on the open section of the Island. Which reminds me, Crumpet, Pikelet, Toast and Muffin, pretty cool names for dogs don’t you think!! Two jack russels and two Labrador’s, that we tried to photograph but they were having none of it!!

I hope this kitchen will give you another reason to keep it simple, keep it stylish and keep it freestanding when your choosing your new kitchen.
