Provence Meets Wes Anderson – The Chiswick Basement Kitchen by deVOL

Where do we begin with this bright, airy and completely unique Shaker kitchen, it’s so full of personality, style and really clever little touches, we are spoilt for choice.

What a beautifully sunny day for one of our first photoshoots of the year.

Let’s start with the Crittall windows, the colour of pistachio ice cream, they are the most delightfully mouth-watering windows we have ever seen, apparently the first time this colour has been chosen for these kinds of windows and doors. We are pretty sure it won’t be the last, it has given people such a thrill to see this daring decision turn out so stylishly.

A peep through the most perfect pastel green doors into this gorgeous deVOL Shaker kitchen.

The sink in the chimney breast is another unique choice, it was to enable the cooking area to be focused around the island, both for visual and practical reasons. We love this non-conformist approach to design, not following the norm and doing things differently can be so refreshing and in this instance, it has people asking all sorts of questions, but we just love the way the customers are bold. The sink has two sections so don’t worry about draining your dishes, it can be done.

Simple and stylish open storage for pots and pans, dainty glasses and an ever-expanding collection of cookbooks.

The island was the centre of the action with one of our beautiful Plumber’s Stools tucked underneath.

The super cool interior designer behind this kitchen is known as Clarence & Graves, their clever choice of colours, quirky ideas and smatterings of vintage in amongst the practicalities are what we are all looking to achieve.

Every little corner had something to surprise and delight you.

A bold tiled floor and views onto a terrace give you the feeling of extra space and an ability to double the size of your kitchen whenever the doors are open. Clarence and Graves described the kitchen as a cross between Provence and Wes Anderson, what a glorious combination. Family space and storage are a must in a kitchen, but if you can get personality and a holiday feel to boot you are onto a winner in our eyes.

A whole room dedicated to storage and refrigeration with floor-to-ceiling cupboards painted in ‘Mushroom’.

A bespoke paint colour for our Shaker cupboards in the kitchen and the ever-popular ‘Mushroom’ for floor-to-ceiling storage and appliances in the pantry area is a simple understated mix and with the merest hint of pink on the walls, this kitchen is not going to date or feel unfashionable in a year or two.

deVOL brass taps, a Statuarietto marble splashback and big double bowl Belfast sink – sheer luxury!

We hope this Shaker kitchen gives you a happy smile and the confidence to be a little bolder with your choices, or simply give Clarence & Graves a call and get them to do it all for you.

Unmatched views out through the incredible pea green metal framed doors into a little sun trap of a garden.
