Pink Sofas………

Ok, I love pink, but now everyone is jumping on my bandwagon!! I have a ‘Helen Loves Pink‘ pinterest board where I can indulge in the passions of pink, but now it’s everywhere, all the coolest London restaurants and Hotels are going pink and recently Remodelista did a feature ’10 best pink sofas’.

Imagine the ultimate gorgeousness of owning a pink sofa. I dont know where the one below is from but apart from the adorable sofa, I love the lashes on the cow heads.

One of the images I found was a quite beautiful sofa made by a good old fashioned English company called ‘George Sherlock’ they specialise in bespoke handmade upholstered furniture and unlike some craftsmen that stick to a look and don’t embrace the new, these guys definitely have. After some research I found they are loved and bought by people all over the world. Check out this beauty below. We love English made products here at deVOL, the idea of these talented people doing a job they love, just like us at Cotes Mill its how it should be.

My SECOND LOVE TODAY IS A Beautifully made film by Tom Ford – A Single Man……………………

a_single_man12

Tom Ford, of Gucci and YSL fame the fashion worlds favourite designer directed a movie in 2009, he didn’t leave any art direction to chance for his first film, and filled it with beautiful things, actors Julianne Moore and Colin Firth, cameos by former Gucci models, and the house and interiors, wow!!

It’s a great movie, by all accounts not everyone would agree but I defy you not to love this if you like fashion, style, beautiful clothes and interiors and ultimate cool. Remember the geeky little lad in ‘About a Boy’ with Hugh Grant? well look at him now!!! amazing he looked every bit the model actor you would never have believed he would become. The styling of this film is like looking at a Vogue from the sixties but even better, every actor is immaculately dressed, every shot is a picture in its own right, the location, the mood, it’s all delightful to watch.

The story is slightly immaterial in many ways, Colin Firth who by the way looks sensational, is desperately lonely after his lover Jim dies in a car crash. The story follows him through the day he decides to take to his life, from the moment he wakes you are mesmerised by his house, his clothes and his delightful relationship with the very cool Julianne Moore.

George aka Colin Firth lives in this amazing house, It was designed by the architect John Lautner in the early 1970s and is known as the Garwood Residence. It is located in Malibu and was purchased by Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, they got taste those two!! I know they are not together anymore by all accounts they still own the property and are still friends, thank heavens some people have sense.

My final love of the day is Columbia Road Flower Market………………..

columbia 3

Ok…. my love of East London continues, last time I went to our lovely London showroom to celebrate our ‘One Year Anniversary’ (yes a whole year in London, how its flown by) I decided to visit this little road. Rows of terraced houses all painted pretty colours and homes to little quirky shops, coffee shops in the wall, antique shops with the weirdest stuff and of course on Sundays flowers upon flowers. I went in the week so I didn’t see the flowers! which I guess is the point but it was still fun.

You may remember I mentioned the Hoxton Mini Press in my last batch of loves! well they have published a book on this famous street, it’s a lovely little book of flowers and East End images, maybe a visit to the Market on a Sunday before Christmas and this little book would make a lovely present.
