The Connecticut Kitchen

Total Cupboard Costs: £24,100

You may recognise this Shaker kitchen from our second series of ‘For The Love of Kitchens’, a renovated colonial house in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains in Connecticut. An area of forests, hiking, skiing and swimming in Cream Hill Lake, a truly idyllic place to live.

The kitchen is centred around a vintage island and a delightfully humble dining area looking out over the bucolic New England countryside. Pantry Blue cupboards and one of our first brass sinks, the long back run is functional and practical, a perfect Shaker design that feels right at home in its surroundings.

There are plenty of little deVOL accessories on display here, subtle as always, but very in keeping with the Shaker aesthetic. A laundry maid, one of our oldest and most-loved accessories. Frilly porcelain lights, described by the owners as reminiscent of a ballet dancer's tutu. The look is clean and fresh, but spacious and full of character thanks to the vintage additions, stone floor and antique rugs.

This kitchen was designed and commissioned through our New York showroom and, very excitingly, the full renovation was documented on a special US episode of our show.
