The West Sussex Kitchen

This beautifully calm kitchen is filled with soft light and simple cupboards. The space, the light and the view, all look perfect. The orangery at the back of this very old farmhouse was added during the renovation of this family home, creating a whole new, bright and very spacious living dining room. The kitchen was fitted at one end of the room. A big eight-seater table and soft long comfy sofas filled the rest of the space, making it the centre of this family's day to day living. The original kitchen was small, dark and at the front of the house, so it was moved to a place with a wonderful view, space, light and privacy; a very wise decision and one that made this home an enviable place to live.

The kitchen is such a lovely example of how you can make a family space so inviting and chilled, yet completely understated, by using a small number of cupboards and spending your money on quality classic pieces. There is a lovely big AGA, base cupboards from our Shaker range and a prep table from our Classic English Kitchen range. No wall cupboards, just a couple of shelves and a peg rail. The addition of the bespoke prep table and the classic AGA really make this kitchen special. Less is definitely more in this case.
